A married couple inadvertently managed to win the EuroMillions lottery twice on the same day - thanks to their pet dog. Stunned Jane and Alan Slater each bought a winning ticket for the same draw with exactly the same numbers without realising the other had purchased one, and won £149,089.30 each. But ferry worker Alan, 65, completely forgot he had bought his ticket and left it in the car after celebrating the initial win with his wife's ticket. After the draw, on September 29, they safely put Jane's winning ticket under lock and key in their bedroom, each believing it was the one they bought. In fact, Alan had purchased his ticket and left it in the back seat of his dark grey Ford C-Max, hidden carefully inside a brochure advertising holiday cottages. And the couple, from Newport on the Isle of Wight, would never have discovered the ticket which doubled their winnings to nearly £300,000 if it wasn't for their beloved white Labrador Ruby.
